Sacrifice or Offering

The word sacrifice comes from the twelfth century, where it came from the latin and it just meant sacred rites. By the fourteenth century, its use had changed to offering of something to a deity as an act of propitiation or homage. The three main words that can be translated, sacrifice or offering are: am, ole og (sacrificing) and whetting.
