The Effects of Metaphors on Patients With Chronic Back Pain

Study looked at how students with low back pain interacted with patients. Students' metaphors gave rich detail to patients, but sometimes created negative perceptions and emotions around their problem. Study shows that we should be very kind of cautious or prudent about the sorts of terms that we use with patients. We don't really know how they're going to interpret. It's a mere assumption.
