Is This Democracy

CHAPTER

Introduction

Polarization is one of the most pervasive terms in the American political and broader public discourse. We believe that we should probably be a little more critical towards the polarization narrative, towards polarization as the central diagnosis of our time. And luckily for us, we have guest Shannon McGregor to help us dissect the polarization research and broader narrative. She recently published a new article together with her co-author Daniel Christ titled A Review and Provocation on polarization and platforms. In it, she argues that polarization can only be seen as a central threat to democracy if inequality is ignored.
