The sixth age, which is roughly like 800 BC to 180, you know the iron age. The Romans started off as kind of like the Keystone ally and like this alliance network of italic peoples. They collected taxes and tributes from their neighbors but by getting soldiers they always had to be at war. And so it was a lot different they had the alliance structures but also more militarization.
