Laos is a really cool place to go if you're interested in cultural travel. You can actually take a boat down the mikong river from a small town near chang rai, northern tiland. The second day you pull into luen creban, and it's a city in the middle of the jungle. It's got so much wonderful culture and french colonial buildings.
