The Implications of the Demographics in Higher Education
In four years, the number of students graduating from high schools across the country will begin a sudden and precipitous decline due to the rolling demographic aftershock of the Great Recession. It said that traumatized people traumatized by the uncertainty and the unemployment of the 2000 and 2007 and 2008 recession, they decided to stop having kids during that period. As a result, classes are predicted to shrink year after year for the next two decades. And this is what the higher education industry is calling the enrollment cliff.
