The Importance of Openness in Cities
Your personality at age two is really important. It's not predicting anything when you're adult. Once you get to be an adult, the continuity is much higher. But there's still a lot of changes that happen. One of the biggest changes that occurs in Western countries is most people lose their openness. You peak in openness in college when you're young. And so you see that same kind of effect with these demographic trends. Who goes to cities? Young people go to cities. That's also true about cities. Large cities are a magnet for open for trade openness for people who disproportionately have that trade. This is going to feed into those political differences that you see and the demographic differences.
