I think we know that up tempo music is measurably performance enhancing for workouts and races. But yeah, it could also be a limiting crutch because your brain has only so many attentional resources to distribute. So if it's giving a bunch of them to music in your head, less of it is going toward in terroception and pace. I mean, we can walk in chew gum, especially if you don't do it all the time.
