The Different Views of Biblical Authority
Michael Bird: Some of our brothers and sisters in other parts of the world don't understand our preoccupation with an errantcy. And I would consider all my Australian brothers and sisters to be in the evangelical tent, although we have a slightly different view of what's meant by biblical authority. What I want to get away from are the higher critics who are pickening, choosing the sayings of Jesus that they think are authentic to Jesus' seminar folks. That's just a diametrically opposed view of the gospels and of the teaching of Jesus that I don't think is fair to say fits under an evangelical tent.
