The Steam deck is a hardware device sold by Valve with the operating system that Valve makes based on Linux. It's like you hold it in your hands with a big, like bigger than a Nintendo Switch screen in the middle and on the sides are joysticks and buttons,. But what it is, is a tiny little Linux PC. And this uses a translation layer to play Windows games on Linux. Some quote unquote Mac ports actually use the Wine layer.
