The Importance of Repetition in Learning

If you get people to be automatic in something, you are freeing them in order to be able to do more thinking. This kind of idea applies to basketball just as much as it applies to writing in the alphabet. Same goes for some other things in writing but the alphabet is a good example of that. He did report that it was quite common for his teams to surprise him with their creativity and their problem solving on the basketball court. It's fair to say this can, to a large extent, be credited to the way in which they intensely practice the fundamentals.
