I Love Minnesota, but I Was Going to Leave Minnesota

i knew that at a really early age, i was going to go some place else. My parents were trying to encourage us to be bold, to go out into the world but at the same time they were terrified about what would happen if we did. And so how do you, how do you give your kid wings in that situation? I think that's the miracle of our parent generation of parenting,. especially in minority, working class black communities.
