The Importance of Cash Control in a Corporation

Sloan: The way cash was handled at that time is almost unbelievable. Each division controlled his own cash, depositing all receipts in his own accounts and paying all bills in the same account. Sloan's solution to this, I'm not going to belabor the point, he centralized cash controls. We had no effective procedure for getting cash from the points where we happened to have some to the points when we happened to need some. That's one of the craziest things I've ever read.
