Is There a Top Down Approach to Translation in Tibet?
In the west, it's more an entrapuneal approach, in a way. And so what we find out in our situation is that some many of the important texts are not translated yet. So i think there was a much more sort of supervisory role on the part of the indian masters, who probably suggested in o ex an text, o an exanze text, need to be translated. Nagergona was translated fairly early, and asanga was translated quite early. The choices of the major figures in maana buddhism, na nagajuna, asanga, avasu bandu and darmacirte dignag were made by their translators
