The government initially set out its plans in January. And at that point, they were much more wide ranging than what it's been able to pass so far. The one thing they did do on Monday was to limit the Supreme Court's ability to try to get government actions by using the principle of reasonableness. So although the protests have definitely slowed the government down, it's not yet clear what the final outcome will be.

Alphabet earnings beat expectations, a new report from the IMF says the future of the global economy is looking a little brighter than it did a few months ago, and the troubled regional bank PacWest has agreed to merge with Banc of California. Plus, the FT’s James Shotter explains the role Israeli businesses are playing in protesting the country’s judicial reforms.
