The End of the Prop World
When I got back into the hedge fund industry, I very quickly realised that that world had totally changed post the GFC. So where I wanted to get onto a true trading desk and be involved in trading, I now found that my entire job as head of trading at a hedge fund was doing transactional cost analysis reports. And what I kind of realized was that the prop world now is kind of the last bestie and the last outpost of that sort of true entrepreneurial, true trading kind of realm. Like ride until the wheels fall off.
