Sally Kohn: It's interesting because my colleague Scott Sumner has been a big advocate of looking to asset prices to help inform monetary policy. But this also raises questions for people who think the Fed is always there to bail out markets too, right? Any thoughts on that balance between using the wisdom of the crowds from the markets versus being seen as bailing out markets?Kohn: I'm not actually compelled by that it needs to be done through trading. That said, I think it plays its role. As you know, with my monetary policy report, I think direct credit regulation is the way to tighten financial conditions.
