Meditation Practice - Mindfulness and Vigilance
meditation practice requires two components, mindfulness and vigilance. These are represented by the implements that this monk carries. In its most basic form, mindfulness means that we remain aware of what we're doing. When you're washing the dishes, do you remain aware of washing the dishes? If you're honest, you'll say no. We don't really pay attention to it. It's mechanically done. You want to maintain a posture where you can be relaxed but wakeful. Remember, maukut represents physicality. Each of these spheres above represent other aspects of our energetic and psychological experience. The goal is to extract out of the physical body.
