The Origins of the Silk Road
After World War II the one country that was particularly interested and retained interest in the Silk Road as a concept was Japan. The eastern terminus of the Silk Road is Nara but today once China takes over the authorship it's Xi'an for the overland Silk Road. But we're also now hearing debates about a Viking Silk Road that obviously takes up into the Scandinavian regions. And so this idea is a narrative that triumphs both geography and history.
