The Stuffed Animal and the Blankie as Transitional Objects
Psychology has loosened up a little bit, because winnicott wasn't a huge fan of these attachment objects. A two thousand study in the journal of consulting and clinical psychology found that kids who had their beloved blankets with them at the doctor's office experienced less distress. And as kids get older, especially stuffed animals, take on distinct personalities that help fulfil those roles as comforter and imaginary friend. So i bet, since i've been fighting off a cold, i could really use my blankie. It might make you feel better.
