Are Community Heat Pumps the Future?

Community heat networks, just like this one, are less efficient and therefore lose people money than say your average normal gas boiler. For every unit of electricity you put into a heat pump, you should get three to four units of heat out. So they should be able to be run cost competitively with gas boilers. We've all got to move away from gas and oil burners as we decarbonise our energy supply. The question is whether you deliver that heat via a network or to individual people's homes.
