The Foundation for Prayer

In psalm one, forty six, smack in the middle of a whole bunch of poetry about praising the greatness of god, the psalmist drops the record scratching line, put not your trust in princes. When his breath departs, he returns to the earth on that very day, his plans perish. He remembers who god is, and that begins a process of healing so deep in him that we're told that the second half of his life was richer than the first. So here's the foundation for prayer. Be still, then mber who god is. But there's one more essential peace, and that is to know yourself.
