What's Happened in Australia?

The intellectual level of the political discourse in the us is at the lowest ic level you can possibly imagine. The selfishness of these politicians is insane to me. I don'tknow if it's any better in australia, but i guess my question is, what's happened here? Both sides have dug in their heels so much that no matter how much data you bring forth, and it could even be about children,. These children are not having normal lives.
