The Importance of Foundation Models in Design
In 1992, I was in Kyoto and talking with a curator of modern design. He said that he had just spoken with one of the last great Miyadaku carpenters who were able to build these incredible temple structures in the Kyoto Nara area. And so that always stayed with me because it's a kind of parable for how, you know, anything that you enjoy is the built upon great materials.
