Boris Johnson and Viradkar have very different worldviews, says John Develera. He argues that the British tactic of holding Ireland hostage is like a hostage situation. The backstop is the ransom for an agreement on future trade ties with EU. And what Johnson's saying to the EU is, you change the backstop or we will kill the hostage in a no deal shootout you say. But if you are the hostage taker, you can actually kill the hostage but not just injure the wounds, he adds.
