The Role of the Media in the Security Response

The media are not really your main stakeholder. And one of the interesting things that we've seen is that the threat actors know this, and so they're using the media as part of their tech techniques to put more pressure on an organization. There's a wildly different understanding of the complexities of cybersecurity. You have some very savvy reporters out there that understand it; you have other reporters that might be more oriented towards an industry. They can also drive a narrative publicly that may create more concern among our stakeholders.
