Super ego is a super smart observer, you know. Super ego not only observes your act, but also your intentions. It punishes you for the intentions that you don't follow - even more than those that you follow. What I describe as the name for observer is at work when you follow a silly imperative. This is something not necessary silly, but it has to be done. If a party is celebrated, then you are invited, you should go there. And so if you follow those imperatives, it shows that you are observing.
