The Extreme Cases of Monogenic Longevity Genes

Mice that have lost both copies of genes in pituitary pathways can live an extraordinarily long life. They are infertile, they can't maintain their body temperature and even if they could attract mates, they couldn't produce sperm or egg. The mice would be bullied to death if they were kept in cages with their brothers and sisters that didn't have defective copies of the particular genes.
