The History of Russian-China Engagement in China

The history of Russian-China engagement in that part of the world. Mongolia is also a significant part of the story. In Central Asia you're dealing not just with Russians and Chinese but with what you might call the peoples in the middle. The Mongols, the Uyghos, Kazakhs and other Turkic and Islamic people. There was a fairly marked tendency of the Russian and Chinese to join hands at the expense of what I call the people in the middle though it didn't necessarily always work like that.
