Is There a Nuclear War?

I've heard this theory that technological civilizations don't tend to last very long. I think it's too big a question without really enough data to speculate on. Any intelligent society will most likely come up like we did, having this idea of competition and killing each other but also being nice to each other. But hey, let's find out.
