The Airborne Corner Reflector
The device is propelled into the atmosphere via a submarine and it's a balloon with a radar deflector inside. It could easily be mistaken for a cube if you're flying by it really fast. They were developed during the Cold War and they were actually tested over Cuba. The interesting thing is, is that they only started seeing them once they upgraded their radar equipment in their F-18. So they could essentially be testing their own stuff on their own radar.
