Introduction
Alex Avina is an associate professor of history, Latin American and Mexican history at Arizona State University. Amlo is the acronym for Andres Juan de la Besso Rador, who after three attempts at becoming president of Mexico succeeded in 2018. His maternal grandfather was a Spanish exile who came to Mexico after the Spanish Civil War alongside 30 to 40,000 other Spanish Republican exiles. He's from the southeastern Mexican state of Tabasco. The party still around today, barely, barely breathing called the PRD, the party of the Democratic Revolution.
