The Role of Genetic Factors in Autism

There are many factors that contribute to how each of us has a different brain in terms of its capabilities. Autism is a highly genetic condition and can run in families. It also runs in families with other conditions such as ADHD. So there seems to be some overlap genetically between autism and ADHD. We know starting in the prenatal period, anything that is going to affect the mother that also affects the brain of the baby that's developing could contribute to differences in brain development.
