Aragorn's sword is sort of a statement of his kinglyness. The movie is kind of changed the meaning of this, in my opinion. Frodo has sting, which sort of lets him know when the orcs are around. He even has the one ring, right? Even though it's a thing that he must also destroy, it's also a thing he can use.
