The Faros Vars and the Tritons
The Faros Vars is quite interesting because it shows the same components as the Roman coins except that the statue is rather large. On the Roman coins there's another component which is at the edges of the lower story of the base there are tritons and the tritons are kind of portrayed as mermen with a curly tail and a top they're kind of semi-divine spirit creatures. So fascinating isn't it? I mean they were huge we only needed to want to lose one or two grain ships to make the whole thing worthwhile. Who knows where they're there in the original but I like to think of the original one as being more essentially Egyptian in its simplicity although there
