Introduction

Eunuchs were castrated or emasculated to guard the king's harem. They could not impregnate a woman and their branch of the patrilenial line was terminated. The eunuch would serve his ruler selflessly, with no familial strings attached. In all things considered, it would be difficult, if not impossible, for a eunuch to aspire to form his own dynasty.
