I can't help feeling that the initial intent from Ukraine was precisely to use it to that purpose. The Ukrainians have demonstrated themselves to be much, much better at thinking their way through the course of this war but they are human too. This is a conflict which can often attain the status of a real grudge match. Still, in the main though, this is not really a defeat for Kiev, in that they have lost a city which has already been rendered into just simply a plane of rubble more than an actual city.
