The Rule of 55 for Hypertension in Pregnancy
Oral nifetipine seems to reduce blood pressure quicker than IV libetalol for emergent hypertension, according to a new meta-analysis. The rule of 55 is based on the difference between systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Those that get preeclampsia with or without severe features at term tend to be the phenotype that's more compatible with high cardiac output states.
