The Future of Silicon Carbide
silicon melts at above 2500 degrees Fahrenheit, but it has an effect at lower temperatures as it approaches the melting point. There's a class of ceramics called ultra high temperature ceramics that people have been looking at for these applications for quite some time. And also high entropy ceramics or entropy stabilize ceramics as an area of interest. I have yet to see data that that has convinced me that is a viable option.
