The Differences Between Tech Companies and Non Tech Companies

For the first eight years of my career after the PhD, I was running a manufacturing startup writing code as a founder. Then we shut that business down and then I had to go and get a real job. And so I was a full stack developer for a retailer here in the UK with the warehouse. Then I went to a data science company, thenI went to an edu tech startup because we can't just have tech startups anymore. We have to prefix it with something. Now I'm back as CTO of a startup that my old business partner founded. He just raised around a VC and bought me an offer a couple of years ago.
