Is there any evidence for preferences for fertility and large families being genetically inherited? Yes, so that's probably some of it. I don't think it's any accident either that the only western country last time I checked with a fertility rate above replacement is Israel. Of course the Orthodox Jewish communities there and even the slightly less Orthodox Jewish communities but nevertheless they feel that nymphatous debris are doing a lot of heavy liftingthere.
