Ludwig Feuerbach was a 19th century German philosopher. He argued that the whole concept of God arises understandably but mistakenly from human longing. To which Kierkegaard replied, atheism could just as easily be a wish fulfillment. You don't want there to be a God, and poof, you wish him away.
