The Public Perception of Historical Figures

Mazar: Public perception of historical figures is an evolving thing. People like Jinnah, Nehru and Gandhi were instrumental in helping the British and the West achieve its geopolitical aims by partitioning India. The people of India were never consulted about whether they wanted a partition or not. They were at this fake elections in all in 1946, held under foreign occupation,. So, the public perception of these people will change over time. But I would be very cautious about trusting anything the Europeans wrote, about the people that conquered and destroyed.
