The Story of Exclusionary Zoning in the United States
John has a really interesting proposal to make housing even more local. The story in the united states about exclusionary zoning restrictions is pretty well documented, right? Like, after explicitly raceo zoning laws kind of get struck down by the supreme court as unconstitutional, facially neutral zoning laws sort of explode over the country. Overtime, these have become pretty clear class barriers to entry in different neighborhoods. But i'm curious, like, how did the uk? Problems develop? Is there a similar sort of story there? How did you all kind of arrive at your current moment? There's a long story there.
