Madagascar is the tenth poorest country in the world, and access to education is terribly unequal. Even public schools have fees that make them inaccessible to many lower income families. According to unice 20 % of children in madegascar are never sent to school. Matina initially attended a private middle school, but when she turned 15, she enrolled in the local public high school.
