The possibility of Ukraine joining NATO on some sort of expedited timeline still seems to be on the table. The Biden administration is in fact being quite firm in so far resisting these calls, and it's backed by Germany as well. What's emerged as a kind of safe place is the promise made at the NATO summit in Bucharest in 2008. That many of us regard as the fatal first step down the path that we're now on.
