evolutionary algorithms and machine learning are nowhere as, or last time I looked into them, were not nearly as complicated as evolution probably is. The interesting with evolutionary computation is that it can, at least in the genetic programming kind of version among others, it involves manipulation of symbols. And so you can actually pour in a whole and going actually like what you're talking about with physics, you can just provide some equations that explain this kind of thing.
