I think degrowth makes sense from an environmental perspective, but I think it's naive both on human behavior and on the biophysical systems energy situation. Any growth that we forego is going to be correctly, ethically, greedily, lapped up by those economies. Every ton of coal, barrel of oil, BTU of natural gas, unburned in Europe is going to get burned in Pakistan, India, Malaysia, China. And so don't kid yourself into thinking that degrowth in Germany is going to affect the climate. It's just not.
