The Illusion of Self and Conscious Will
The self that we experience ourselves to be is an illusion and it's a very very strong illusion. I think it informs our thinking about consciousness but there can be consciousness without the experience of self, he says. This gets a little bit into free will as well but this is kind of the idea this is the feeling so you're asking something kind of different which is more about what happens after death really or whether consciousness continues on in some way.
