The Evolution of Lungs in Fish

A lot of fish, like the ones that left the water and went on to become us, got rid of their gills completely. They were done with gills, but you can still see echoes of gills in many modern day terrestrials including the pharyngeal slits in human embryos. There are plenty of fish that still have like both. Most Ray Finn fish as opposed to Loeb Finn fish converted their lungs into swim bladders. That's a little pocket of air inside of the fish that gives it buoyancy.
